Fact Check: World Economic Forum Did NOT Decide A "New Global Bible" Will Be Written By AI No Such Call

Did the World Economic Forum (WEF) decide to ban the current Bible and have a new, unique global Bible written by artificial intelligence? No, that's not true: author and WEF contributor Yuval Noah Harari recently discussed AI's potential to generate original religious scripture, and his comments are misinterpreted by social media users.

The claim appeared in a video published on TikTok on June 17, 2023, by user codruta.cerva03 (archived here), with the following caption in Romanian:

"Marș neomarxiștilor!!

Treziți-vă oameni buni până nu o să fie prea târziu... 🙏"

Which was translated into English by Lead Stories staff as:

"Go away neomarxists!!

Wake up people before it's too late... 🙏"

This is what the post looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

The World Economic Forum said a "unique global" Bible has to be written because the current one contains many lies, user codruta.cerva03 said in her TikTok clip, calling this blasphemy.

She described what she considered the reason why the WEF allegedly wants a new Bible:

"The current Bible is bothering the progressists, imperialists and the sexo-Marxists, because it doesn't specifically mention that it's normal for a man to marry a man, and a woman to marry a woman," or to be "transgender, transsexual," following the "LGBT model."

The claim misinterprets recent comments made by author, professor and WEF contributor Yuval Noah Harari.

During an interview on May 19, 2023, in Lisbon, Portugal, Harari discussed the future of artificial intelligence and its impact on society, including religious groups.

At one point, he talked about the possible future creation of new religions founded on AI-created foundational texts.

"Throughout history, religions dreamt about having a book written by a superhuman intelligence, by a nonhuman entity," Harari said in the interview (posted on YouTube and archived here). "In a few years, there might be religions that are actually correct," he added, as AI is "the first technology ever that can create new ideas." "That, just think about a religion whose holy book is written by an AI," Harari said.
